How CGM Search ranking works
A plain-English look at how CGM Search decides which pages appear in the web results on cgmimm.com — and what you control.
Two steps: get indexed, then rank
CGM Search is the web-results zone of cgmimm.com. To appear, a page first has to be in our index — discovered, crawled, and eligible — and then it competes on relevance for each search.
You can't rank a page that isn't indexed, so getting indexed comes first: verify your site, submit a sitemap, and make sure your pages are crawlable.
What makes a page eligible
- •It's on a site you've verified in the Search Console.
- •Crawling is enabled for the site.
- •The page returns successfully (not an error) and isn't marked noindex.
What decides rank
Once indexed, pages rank on how well their content matches the search. Clear, descriptive titles, meta descriptions, and genuinely relevant page content are what move you up. The guides in this section walk through each.
Tip: Indexing is necessary but not sufficient. A crawled page with thin or off-topic content still won't rank — relevance is earned by the content itself.
